Legislator Leonardo Rodríguez revealed that the lukewarmness of the council regarding this issue has allowed this business to have a total bebt of U$S 89,282 in tax evasion.He declared that there are four casinos formally established in Monclova: Montecarlo, which has already opened a venue in Madero Blvd and Tropicana, which is about to open in Fovissste.
“All except one are not paying its contribution and local taxes either, which is of U$S 35 a month for each machine. Each casino has between 350 and 400 machines, so global debt registered due to this evasion is of U$S 89.282”, he explained.
Leonardo Rodríguez commented that the problem is that in the Income Law the council does not consider fines or surcharges for not complying with the regulation and so owners are boosted to open this type of business. He indicated that casinos usually do not pay taxes, and members of the Casino Control Commission do not assist to the meetings planned in order to solve this matter.
