The report says Nevada collected USD 68.4M in taxes based on the month’s gambling revenue, about 2 percent less than a year ago.
(US).- Nevada’s casinos may have been bigger winners in January than they were a year ago, amassing USD 952.7 million from all wagers made, thanks in part to the popular card game, baccarat. Gambling revenue was up 15 percent on the Las Vegas Strip and 14 percent in Reno, Nevada.
On Friday, the board endorsed a new request for applications in the Southern Tier, something Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo had urged, pending approval by the gaming commission.
(US).- The panel that recommended locations for three new casinos in New York released its final report on the selection process on Friday, finding, among other things, that applicants were often overly optimistic about the gambling market in New York. In December, the Gaming Facility Location Board chose three winners — in the Catskills, Schenectady and near the Finger Lakes - from a total of 16 proposals.
