How is TCS John Huxley positioned in the Latin American market? Which are the countries in which you feel stronger?
David Charnock: TCS John Huxley has a strong presence in the Latin American market. As VP of Sales for Central and South America I oversee a team of three Business Development Managers across the continent: Gabriela Villalobos, covers the market from Mexico to Panama; Elizabeth Romano in South America; and the Caribbean and South Florida market is looked after by Misty Rodda. This knowledgeable and experienced team has developed a great network of contacts, both with the main groups and with the independents across the region which has given us extremely good market penetration.
Which were the most interesting products that you have launched for South America recently? Which do you think are TCS John Huxley stars for Latin America and the Caribbean?
DC: Undoubtedly our traditional products such as roulette wheels and Chipper Champ 2 chip sorting machine have historically been the strongest products in this region. However this market is hungry for new technology and is willing to embrace it more easily than some other more established markets. We have seen this with the interest generated by our Supernova Table Bonus System which is a powerful progressive and game bonus system that drives increased revenues by adding higher levels of player excitement and loyalty to table games. This now also includes the worlds first progressive Roulette system for local area table game applications, which will be on show at G2E in Las Vegas.
What is the situation of TCS John Huxley in Mexico? Which are the most successful products in the region?
Gabriela Villalobos: Mexico has been a strong market for us in the past few years with tables, chips, card shufflers and displays being key products. As you are aware there is much uncertainty in the region presently but potentially it is a market with a very important future and the expectation is that changes in legislation will allow it to move forward.
What is the position of the company in Panama? What are your short and medium-term plans?
GV: Panama has been an established market for many years and we have supplied a broad range of our products to the existing casinos. There are several new projects in progress and we are already working with operators ready for when they commence.
DC: On a wider perspective, Chile and Peru are quite advanced with the relevant approval processes and we see very good opportunities in these countries.
We have recently introduced our A-Plus shuffler in Latin America, which has proved extremely popular with many of the casinos. The A-Plus Shuffler comes pre-programmed with many popular casino card game settings and is perfect for games needing a continuous shuffler. A Plus Shuffler is ideal for Blackjack but can easily increase game speed, hand rate, utilisation and ultimately revenue making it extremely attractive for operators.
Is Colombia a strong market for the company?
Very strong. There are several opportunities and new projects which will be coming to fruition later this year and 2013.
In Argentina there are a series of import restrictions, How has this affected TCS?
The situation has been complicated for the last six or seven months. Elizabeth Romano who is based in our Buenos Aires office and has an extremely knowledgable understanding of the situation and is working with the relevant authorities to find a way to soften these restrictions.
Will you be present in Las Vegas and Buenos Aires?
