Reed Exhibitions’ VP, Tom Loughran, granted an interview to Yogonet.com after the conclusion of recent G2E Asia event.
What feeling did you close G2E Asia 2012 with? What was the feedback that you received from exhibitors and visitors?
G2E Asia ended with a very positive feeling and we received excellent feedback from exhibitors and visitors. The exhibitors felt there was robust buying on the show in all segments from table games to slots and security products to player tracking and more. Visitors were impressed with the size of the show floor and the comprehensive content in conference. The following conference sessions/tracks created a great buzz at the event; Game Protection Seminar, Workshop on CCTV Surveillance Systems, The Gaming Management Certificate Program endorsed by the University of Macau and UNLV (University of Las Vegas) Singapore, Global Markets Forum and dedicated tracks geared toward senior management and middle management.
What are the statistics of this year?
We are very happy to announce this year’s event had 6161 visitors vs. 5748 last year, an increase of 7.2%.
What can you tell us about what happened between Shuffle Master and LT Game? What is Reed Exhibitions position about this battle over intellectual property rights? Are you planning to move the show to Singapore for next year?
As seen on our show floor, the gaming industry is a highly technological and innovative market that strives to provide the most entertainment value for its customers. It is not uncommon that in such a competitive environment legal disputes may arise which must be resolved through the justice system.
G2E Asia should not and does not play any role in such conflicts. In order to maintain the reputation of individual companies, of the industry and of the host community, we are dedicated to providing a level playing field for all of our exhibitors. We maintain strict policies for all exhibitors to ensure the primary mission of G2E Asia – to provide new business opportunities for exhibitors and attendees alike – remains the focus of this annual gathering.
Currently there are no plans to move the show from Macau and we greatly value our partnership with the Macau gaming industry. Though like most trade shows we continually analyze other strategic locations.
What is next for the Asian gaming industry?
We are starting the process for planning for the 2014 event and look froward to the new ideas and content from the conference advisory board. Also resigning onsite went extremely well and we are looking for an even bigger and better event next year!
