(Panama).- Several representatives of different financial sectors of the country that are affected by the tax reform bill, presented proposals in the first consultation meeting held last week by the Lawyer Association.

Antonio Alfaro, president of the Association of Games of Chance Administrators (ASAJA) asked for the elimination of new tax increases to casinos in hotels, because “it isn’t serious to change the rules of the game every six months”. He regretted that now they propose to increment the tax a 16% from the validity of the reform, a 19% in 2012 and a 22% in 2014.
Giselle Brea, director of the Gambling Control Committee, indicated several months ago with regards to gambling venues, from January 1st, 2010 until December 31st, 2011 will pay us$ 16,51 million. From January 1st, 2012 until December 31st, 2013 they would bring us$ 19,2 million. Besides, in 2014 they will pay us$ 22,20 million. In Panama, there are 14 full casinos and 29 gambling venues.
